One of the seven federal student loan servicers in charge of managing loans is OSLA.
Is OSLA a government loan?
The Oklahoma legislature established OSLA as a public trust in 1972 for the benefit of the State of Oklahoma. For our operating costs, the State does not appropriate any money to us. We cover all costs with earnings from the management of our student loan programs.
Does OSLA have student loan forgiveness?
You may be qualified for a loan forgiveness of up to $17,500 on your Direct Loan program loans if you have taught full-time for five full academic years that are consecutive in a low-income elementary school, secondary school, or educational service organization.
Is OSLA private?
OSLA is a public trust that is governed by five trustees chosen by the Oklahoma governor. Despite being a nonprofit, the organization doesn’t get any money from the state of Oklahoma. Instead, the money they earn from managing student loans pays for operating costs.
