To apply, youll work with a Federal Housing Administration-approved lender. Many banks, credit unions and mortgage lenders offer FHA loans.
Preapproval for an FHA loan is similar to preapproval for other types of mortgages, but you must work with an FHA-approved lender. You must submit proof of your financial situation, which may include employment history, account information, and details of any ongoing loans. Obtaining mortgage preapproval from multiple FHA lenders enables you to compare rates as well as all the fees and requirements that each lender would impose.
Compare at least three FHA lenders to find the best deal because FHA mortgage rates and fees vary by lender. Then, use an FHA mortgage calculator to run the numbers to determine your projected monthly payments. Additionally, keep in mind that although the FHA establishes minimum requirements, lenders may demand higher credit scores or lower debt-to-income ratios.
