How does Root know if you’re driving?
According to Root Insurance, the app uses machine learning to determine whether you’re a driver or a passenger. You shouldn’t see any penalties based on the driving habits of someone else when you ride in a car.
Does root insurance track location?
Our App. Outside of California, if you have granted Root permission to do so, we will gather certain telemetric data, such as accelerometer, GPS and gyroscope data, from your mobile device and continue to monitor your device activity until you otherwise change your mobile permissions.
How does root insurance test drive work?
Drive as you normally would—just keep your phone with you when you do. We’ll use driving data from your phone during the test drive to determine your good driving habits. If you qualify, you’ll get a great final rate based on your good driving.
How long is the Root test drive?
The test drive period for Root Insurance typically lasts three weeks. After that, either you’ll receive a quote or the company will opt not to cover your car.
