Walmart and Sams Club are two of the largest retailers in the U. S. and are both under the Walmart Inc. family. If you’re a loyal Walmart or Sam’s Club customer, you might be eyeing the Capital One® Walmart RewardsTM Mastercard® or the Synchrony-issued Sams Club® Mastercard® for the possible savings that either could offer. This is true whether you’re in it for the free samples or the endless aisles of options.
The two zero-annual-fee credit cards offer five cash-back categories. They do not provide solid rates on other types of spending, so although they can be lucrative, they are also high-maintenance.
However, among other notable differences, the two co-branded cards differ greatly in terms of spending flexibility, spending caps, and rewards redemption. In the end, it all depends on your typical spending habits and what kind of shopper you are.
In a nutshell, the answer is that Sam’s Club accepts your Walmart Credit Card. However, there are a few things to keep in mind:
- You’ll only earn the base 1% cash back rate on purchases, not the boosted cash back rates for Walmart purchases. This is because Sam’s Club is a separate company from Walmart.
- You can only use your Walmart Credit Card for in-store purchases at Sam’s Club. You cannot use it for online purchases at SamsClub.com.

Overall, the Walmart Credit Card is a good option for using at Sam’s Club if you’re already a member and you’re looking to earn some cash back on your purchases. The same isnt necessarily true for the Sams Club® Mastercard®. Yes, youll earn 5% back on eligible EV charging purchases and at Sams Club-branded gas stations. But beyond that, whether you shop inside a physical Sams Club or at samsclub. com, youre going to get only 1% back on your shopping unless youre a Sam’s Club Plus member. And youll have to shell out $110 to become one.
For individuals who merely possess a basic “Club” membership, purchasing a co-branded card in-store yields a rather meager return.
Redemption flexibility
